/ Floating Sauna

La progettazione della sauna galleggiante è stata ispirata dal luogo che la ospita: un terreno fortemente inclinato verso il lago e un denso bosco di betulle. La scelta di costruire vicino all’acqua, senza interventi invasivi, non solo rispetta l’ambiente circostante, ma trasforma la struttura in un ponte tra terra e acqua, integrandosi armoniosamente con entrambi gli elementi.

Oltre a essere uno spazio dedicato al riposo e alla contemplazione, la piattaforma galleggiante funge da molo per canoe e piccole imbarcazioni, sostituendo un vecchio pontile un tempo installato nello stesso luogo. L’interno può accogliere fino a otto persone ed è separato dall’esterno da una zona coperta utilizzata come spogliatoio e deposito per la legna.

La parete rivolta verso il lago è interamente vetrata, consentendo di ammirare l’acqua e il paesaggio indipendentemente dalle condizioni atmosferiche. Internamente, il legno di ontano, simile alla betulla e tradizionalmente usato nelle saune di tutta la Scandinavia, crea un ambiente accogliente. Esternamente, i listelli verticali in legno di abete sono trattati con la tecnica giapponese dello Yakisugi, che brucia la superficie del legno per renderla resistente agli agenti atmosferici e agli insetti, senza l’uso di prodotti chimici nocivi. Questa finitura mette in risalto la struttura del legno e contribuisce a integrare visivamente la sauna con le acque scure del lago e la vegetazione circostante.

La sauna è stata costruita con telai portanti prefabbricati, materiali appropriati e tecniche costruttive innovative, elementi per il successo del progetto.

Progetto, che riflette un forte legame con il luogo e una grande attenzione ai dettagli, rispettando il contesto geografico e culturale in cui si inserisce.

EN / The design of the floating sauna was inspired by its location: a steep slope towards the lake and a dense birch forest. The decision to build near the water without invasive interventions not only respects the surrounding environment but also transforms the structure into a bridge between land and water, harmoniously integrating with both elements.

In addition to being a space dedicated to rest and contemplation, the floating platform serves as a dock for canoes and small boats, replacing an old pier that was once installed in the same location. The interior can accommodate up to eight people and is separated from the exterior by a covered area used as a changing room and wood storage.

The wall facing the lake is entirely glass, allowing the contemplation of the water and the landscape regardless of the weather conditions. Internally, alder wood, similar to birch and traditionally used in saunas throughout Scandinavia, creates a cozy environment. Externally, the vertical spruce wood slats are treated with the Japanese technique of Yakisugi, which burns the wood’s surface to make it resistant to weather and insects, without the use of harmful chemicals. This finish highlights the wood’s texture and helps visually integrate the sauna with the dark waters of the lake and the surrounding vegetation.

The sauna was constructed with prefabricated load-bearing frames, appropriate materials, and innovative construction techniques, which were key to the project’s success. The design reflects a strong connection to the location and great attention to detail, respecting the geographical and cultural context in which it is situated.
